Tasheer is a type of illuminated manuscript(Persian Miniature) which is used to decorate the borders of manuscripts or Muraqqa.
It is done using one, two or three types of golden colors; one or two colors are used to paint certain patterns along the page borders or on the first pages of the chapters of some books or door frames, walls, curtains and other spaces painted in Iranian paintings.
Tasheer was also used on old book covers, on metal pencil cases, calligraphy, and in the form of engravings on metal.
Tasheerin Persian art (Miniature) is deriven from the word Sha’r [شعر] meaning strings of hair used as a term for minuscule patterns of plants, trees and birds.
In this type of drawing- mostly including animals and landscape. Real gold and very delicate brushes are used and that is why it is likened to strings of hair.
The magnificence of such paintings endowed them such popularity that many embassies and Consulates in the world exhibit these original Persian art (Miniature) in their entries.
