One of the branches of decorative Iranian handicrafts is called Negargari or Persian Miniature. Which the latter term means a microcosmic nature. In the Iranian art of miniature, however, the nature is not depicted as in photos or pictures, but rather is drawn according to the artist’s will and taste.
In the past the drawing apparatus including the brushes and colors were made and prepared by the artist himself. Persian miniature follows certain rules of painting landscape and usually does not observe natural proportions. The painted objects do not resemble their real world image.
Persian Miniature are mostly quite small, but they show rich, complex scenes that attract any viewer for a long period of time. Color is simply a decorative tool and details are very important. The magnificence of precious original Persian works has endowed them universal popularity in most of the prominent centers round the world such as embassies and consulates.
