Balochi needlework or Balochi Dozi is a collection of special types of needlework that is done by Baloch women and was first created from the mind and creativity of Baloch women. Balochi needlework has a seal of authenticity from the UNESCO organization. Baloch needlework is one of the most beautiful Iranian cultural arts, which is widely used among the people of Balochistan. The art of needlework is very popular among Baloch women, and the people of Balochistan consider this art as an expression of their original identity and tradition.
Baloch needlework is a delicate and long-standing art, which no one knows exactly when it became popular in Iran, and it is less mentioned in historical books. Nevertheless, it can be said that Baloch embroidery, which is the silk flower sewn on fabrics, was related to the silk production industry at one time.
The threads used are silk and cotton or worsted, and the most used thread is cotton. The main colors used in traditional Balochi needlework include six colours: although seven colours have been common among Baloch women since ancient times, and a stitch that contains these colours is called a seven-colour stitch. The reason for this is still unknown. Maybe one of the colours was removed in ancient times.
