Who Invented Backgammon and Why?
Iranian backgammon board: During the reign of Anushirvan Khosrow, the king of India, to test the wisdom of the Iranians and prove his superiority, he sent a game of chess with beads of emerald and ruby, along with exquisite gifts to the Persian court.
he appointed Takht Ritus to do so.
He wrote in a letter to the king of Iran: “Since you are our emperor, your wise men must be superior to our wise men.
So either recite the method and method of what we have sent to you (chess) or pay us a ransom from now on”
After reading the letter, the king of Iran asked for forty days, and none of the sages found a solution in those few days, until the fortieth day of Bozorgmehr, who was the youngest minister of Anoushirvan, stood up and said:
“They made this chess game like a battlefield.
The two sides are fighting with their pieces, and whichever has more wisdom and foresight wins.”
And he told the complete secrets of the chess game and how to pick the pieces.
The emperor greeted him three times and rewarded him with twelve thousand coins.
After that, “Takht Ritus” played with Bozorgmehr.
Bozorgmehr won the Takht Ritus three times.
The next day, Bozorgmehr showed Takht Ritus another game and said:
‘If you answer this, we will ransom you, and if you cannot, you have to ransom us.’
Diorsam asked time for forty days, but none of the sages of that land could solve “Wayne Ardeshir,” and thus, the King of India agreed to be the ransomer of Iran.
